From the Kis-Balaton Visitor Centre we offer guided tours to the Fekete István memorial site on Diás Island by private vehicle, golf cart, waterway, canoe. Diás Island is a highly protected nature reserve, and can only be visited during a guided tour from the Kis-Balaton Visitor Centre!

Guided tours to the Black Stephen of Dias Island memorial and Matula hut
From the Kis-Balaton Visitor Centre we offer guided tours to the István Fekete memorial site on Diás Island by private vehicle, golf cart, waterway, canoe. The 3 km introductory part of the trip can be done by canoe or on land.
Diás Island is a highly protected nature reserve and can only be visited during a guided tour from the Kis-Balaton Visitor Centre!
Please note that the introductory section cannot be done by bike, so if you arrive at the Visitor Centre by bike, please reserve a place on the golf cart in advance.
Tickets can be purchased at the Visitor Centre ticket office. Pre-registration is required for the golf car only.
The golf car has a capacity of 13 seats, so reservation is subject to advance registration by e-mail. The golf car is open and weather permitting, so you may only be able to use your own vehicle on the tour.
After parking the vehicles and the golf car, the tour guide will lead you on a 650 m hike to Diás Island, with several stops, during which the guide will tell you about the formation of Lake Balaton, its natural values and the use of the landscape.
The tour includes a visit to the István Fekete memorial site and the Matula hut.

The golf cart can accommodate up to 13 passengers, so we cannot guarantee that you will be able to reserve a seat in advance. Please wait for a confirmation e-mail from our colleagues to check if your reservation was successful.

Participation in the canoe trip is subject to prior registration (by 16.00 the day before the trip). If there are still places available in the departure group, you can register for the trip on the spot. Please ask for free places at the ticket office between 9.00 and 9.45.

The number of places in the canoes is limited (3 persons, but 2 adults and 2 small children can use the canoes). The allocation of places in the canoes is done on the spot. Everyone takes part in the canoe trips at their own risk, maximum 29 people. One guide will lead the tour, no additional paddling staff can be provided, everyone must paddle on their own. Please register for the canoe trips with the above in mind.
We reserve the right to cancel canoe trips for any reason (weather, technical problems). In such cases, registrants will only be allowed to participate in the guided tours on land.
The water tour programme is as follows:
10:00 a.m. ticket purchase (please arrive 20-30 minutes early)
From 10:00 am:
- handing in/completion of liability declarations/consent forms
- Instruction
- allocation of paddles/check of life jacket allocation.
- canoe delivery/launching
Length of the programme: approx. 3-3,5 hours
Departure at the exact time indicated. The group will take the 3 km introductory water section led by the guide, after mooring the group will take a 650 m hike to Diás Island, with several stops, during which the guide will tell the group about the formation of Lake Kis-Balaton, its natural values and landscape use.
Equipment required: suitable clothing for paddling, suitable for the weather, flat shoes, hat. Life jackets will be provided and must be worn.
Please do not bring valuables with you on the tour, we cannot take responsibility for them.
Male guests are asked to participate in lifting and launching the canoes.
